Porsche Boxster Electric Conversion – Project Showcase

In contrast to our basic Beetle conversion, this project is the 'next level' of electric conversion. A powerful Tesla drive implemented in a modern base vehicle from Porsche with many extras.

The challenge was not only to improve the drive performance of a sports car, but also to ensure the interaction of the numerous control units. The boxer engine was removed to make room for a rebuilt Tesla Model S drive unit and a battery pack with new, modern modules. Great importance was placed on not cutting, drilling or welding any parts to the vehicle body.

Boxster Elektro

High Performance Drive Unit

The Porsche Boxster is powered by a small Tesla rear-wheel drive unit with a maximum output of 220 kW (299 hp). This makes acceleration from 0-100 km/h possible in 6s and ensures a lot of driving pleasure. 

2-section battery

A total of 53 kWh of battery was installed in the Porsche Boxster Electric using new battery modules. The battery pack was split into two packs for optimal weight distribution and maximum space utilization. The larger Pack 1 is located in the 'engine bay' in front of the rear axle and the smaller battery pack 2 is in the front luggage compartment. The original radiators and expansion tanks were used for cooling.

Unique instruments

Part of the electrical conversion was the adaptation of the speedometer. With great attention to detail, a new layout of the dial was developed and produced. The speed indicator became a power indicator, for example, to see how much recuperation is taking place.
