What specifically influences the costs?

1. Battery variant and year of manufacture

The ID.3 and ID.4 come with 45, 52, 58 or 77 kWh capacity. Each variant has different module chemistries and different availability on the market. Older years (2021–2022) sometimes have longer delivery times.

Example: A 77 kWh module can be scarcer than a 52 kWh module.

2. Anzahl defekter Module

A defective module requires disassembly, diagnosis and assembly. Each additional module multiplies the labour and material costs. With several modules, synergy effects can reduce the labour time.

Example: 2 modules do not require double the time of 1 module.

3. Diagnosekosten

A complete battery diagnosis with measurement costs approximately €200–€500 and takes 1–2 hours. If a repair order is placed, we credit the diagnosis costs.

Transparent: You only pay separately if you do not commission the repair.

4. Zusatzarbeiten

Depending on the fault pattern, the following may be required:

  • BMS-Neukalibrierung: €300–€800
  • Dichtungstausch: €100–€400
  • Softwareupdate: €50–€200
  • Hochvoltkabel (falls nötig): €500–€1.500

These costs only become apparent after diagnosis.

5. Labour and wage costs

The module replacement requires special tools, high-voltage protection measures and intensive calibration work. Per hour you should reckon with €120–€180, depending on complexity.

1. Diagnosis

Complete high-voltage diagnosis with measurement of all modules, voltage tests and leak testing. Duration: 1–2 hours. Cost: €200–€500.

2. Kostenvoranschlag

Based on the diagnosis we create a detailed cost estimate broken down by material, labour and additional services.

3. Approval by you

You decide at your leisure whether to commission the repair. Only after your written approval does the work begin.

4. Repair and tests

We carry out the repair, recalibrate the BMS and finally perform function tests.

No hidden costs: The cost estimate is binding. Any additional work that becomes apparent during the repair, we communicate immediately and ask for approval before continuing.

No, all prices mentioned are unverbindliche Orientierungswerte. The actual costs result from your individual diagnosis and are set out in a binding Kostenvoranschlag that you must approve before the repair.

How long does a battery module replacement take? expand_more

The pure labour time for a module replacement is, for guidance, 8–12 hours. With several modules or required additional work (BMS calibration, software update) this can take longer. Added to this are diagnosis (1–2 hours) and, if necessary, parts ordering. In total you should reckon with 1–3 working days.

Can the costs be covered by the manufacturer? expand_more

If a Garantiefall is present and the battery is still under warranty (usually 8 years or 160,000 km), the manufacturer can cover the costs. We clarify this as part of the diagnosis and support you with the warranty claim.

Why do the modules cost different amounts? expand_more

The battery variant (45, 52, 58 or 77 kWh) determines the module chemistry and availability. Older years sometimes have longer delivery times. In addition, the modules differ depending on the supplier and any design changes. This leads to price differences of 10–30%.

Is the diagnosis credited? expand_more

The diagnosis costs €200–€500 and is angerechnetif you commission the repair with us. If you decide against it, you pay the diagnosis costs separately. That is fair and transparent.
