What specifically influences the costs?

1. Battery variant and year of manufacture

The ID.3 and ID.4 come with 45, 52, 58 or 77 kWh capacity. Each variant has different availability on the market. Older model years (2021–2022) sometimes have longer lead times.

Example: A 77 kWh module can be scarcer than a 52 kWh module.

2. Number of defective modules

A defective module requires disassembly, diagnosis and assembly. Each additional module costs only the material (€1,599), the labour stays a flat rate.

Example: 2 modules do not require double the time of 1 module.

3. Diagnosis costs

A full battery diagnosis with BMS adjustment and fault-code clearing costs €420. If you commission a repair, we credit the diagnosis cost against it.

Transparent: You only pay separately if you do not commission the repair.

4. Additional work

Depending on the fault pattern, the following may be required:

• Seal replacement
• Software update
• High-voltage cable (if required)

These costs only become apparent after diagnosis.

5. Labour and wage costs

The module replacement requires special tools, high-voltage protection measures and intensive calibration work. The labour is a flat rate: replacement, resealing to VW specification and commissioning €1,750.

3. Approval by you

You decide at your leisure whether to commission the repair. Only after your written approval does the work begin.

4. Repair and tests

We carry out the repair, recalibrate the BMS and finally perform function tests.

No hidden costs: The cost estimate is binding. Any additional work that becomes apparent during the repair, we communicate immediately and ask for approval before continuing.
