Liebherr 508 Electric Wheel Loader – Industrial Project

An electric wheel loader 508 from Liebherr is used daily to fill a biogas plant and has been converted using mass production technology. It represents the perfect addition for our customer's agricultural operation that has been completely converted to renewable energy.

DRIVE

Electric wheel loader? Of course! The electric wheel loader is powered by an 80 kW Nissan Leaf motor with Gen2 inverter. The hydraulic pump is operated via a claw coupling.

BATTERY

A complete Tesla Model S battery with 85 kWh was installed in the wheel loader. The battery consists of 16 modules, which are split into two battery boxes. The larger package (see right) contains 12 modules and 4 additional modules below.

SPECIAL FEATURE

A special feature is that the battery can be charged and discharged bi-directionally. This allows the wheel loader's battery to be integrated into the customer's energy management and used as a mobile storage unit.
