Electric Conversion for Classics: Our Full Service
ESDI EV Technologies is your partner for the professional electric conversion of vintage and classic cars. We develop and supply vehicle-specific electric conversion kits with the highest OEM quality. Every kit is designed for the individual approval inspection under § 21 StVZO and built for German road registration.
Our vehicle kits
We offer plug-and-play electric conversion kits for the following classics:
- Porsche 911 (F- & G-Model) – 180 to 550 hp, up to 300 km range, from €44,990
- Porsche 964 – 300 to 550 hp, up to 350 km range, from €59,990
- VW Beetle – 136 to 610 hp, up to 350 km range, from €29,990
- VW T1 Bulli – 136 to 300 hp, up to 350 km range, from €29,990
- VW T2 Bus – 136 to 300 hp, up to 300 km range, from €29,990
- VW T3 – 136 to 300 hp, up to 350 km range, from €29,990
Why ESDI EV?
TÜV-accompanied: Every vehicle is registered via individual approval under § 21 StVZO. The TÜV accompaniment is included; the fees for the expert report and individual approval are added on top.
Plug-and-Play: All wiring harnesses, adapters and mounts are pre-assembled.
Tesla technology: We use Tesla drive units (depending on the kit SDU, SDUR, LDU, Model 3 or Model S) for maximum efficiency and reliability. Proven technology that is on the road millions of times over.
Made in Germany: Engineering, assembly and quality control in our workshop in Herford, North Rhine-Westphalia.
CCS fast charging: All kits charge AC at 10 kW. CCS fast charging is available from PERFORMANCE or VOYAGER, and in every tier on the T5/T6 and Classic Mini.
The Process: From First Consultation to Electric Classic
1. Consultation & configuration – We discuss your vehicle, your wishes and recommend the right kit configuration (power, battery, equipment).
2. Kit production – Your kit is individually assembled and pre-fitted after ordering; currently three to four months' lead time from receipt of payment, and the conversion at our workshop then takes around three months.
3. Installation – At our workshop in Herford, at a B2B partner, or in your own workshop (HV qualification required) with our technical instructions.
4. TÜV approval – We accompany the individual approval under § 21 StVZO; the fees for the expert report and individual approval are added on top.
5. Registration & driving – Apply for the E-license plate and cruise through the city locally emission-free.
Costs & Subsidies
The kits start from €29,990 (VW Beetle). Turnkey, the conversion costs the kit price plus a €5,000 installation flat fee — so from €34,990. The base vehicle and the stripping of the combustion engine are added separately; the TÜV accompaniment is included, the fees for the expert report and individual approval are passed through. After the conversion you benefit from lower running costs; you should not count on a motor-vehicle-tax exemption, as there is no ABE for the conversion parts. More on Subsidies & Tax Benefits.
