VW T2 Bus Elektroumbau
Costs, TÜV kit & guide for the Bulli of the 70s (2026)
The VW T2 – whether as a camper van, Kombi or flatbed – is the epitome of the feeling of freedom of the 1970s. With an electric conversion it turns from a likeable but powerless veteran into a modern travel companion: powerful, quiet and emission-free. Here you will learn everything about the T2 electric conversion.
Warum den VW T2 auf Elektro umbauen?
The original T2 engine (50–70 hp boxer) is charming, but often too weak for modern traffic. Uphill it becomes a test of patience, on the motorway 100 km/h is the maximum. With an electric drive everything changes:
- 150 PS statt 50 PS – Triple the power with instant torque
- Up to 280 km range – Enough for the weekend trip
- CCS-Schnellladen – 20–80% in 35 Minuten
- Leiser als je zuvor – The boxer noise gives way to relaxed gliding
- Keine Ölwechsel, kein Ventileinstellen – 80% less maintenance
