Driving feel and character

The ID.Buzz is a modern electric car with all the comfort features: assistance systems, a large infotainment display, over-the-air updates. It drives quietly and confidently — but simply like a modern car.

An electrically converted T2 or T3 is a completely different experience. The iconic design, the raised seating position, the mechanical steering — all of that is retained. A modern electric Bulli (T5/T6) with an 82 kWh MEB battery achieves around 350 km in everyday use and charges at 10 kW AC as well as via CCS at 50 kW (PURE) or up to 120 kW (PERFORMANCE and DUAL MOTOR, provided air conditioning is fitted). That is entirely enough for everyday use (commuting, shopping, trips) — a holiday trip takes a little more planning.

Sustainability: conversion beats buying new

One aspect that is often underestimated: the most sustainable path to electric mobility is not buying new, but converting an existing vehicle. The existing vehicle – body, frame, interior – continues to be used instead of being scrapped.
