Typical signs

Do you recognise these symptoms on your ID.3 or ID.4?

Many battery problems on MEB vehicles can be traced back to individual modules. These signs indicate a possible defect.

warning

High-Voltage System Warning

Error messages like "Check electrical system" or "Visit workshop" in the instrument cluster require a professional HV analysis. Ignoring them can lead to consequential damage.

battery_low

NOTICEABLE RANGE LOSS

A significant decrease in usable range or sudden SOC jumps indicate weakening individual modules or cell drift – a common problem with MEB batteries.

bolt

CHARGING ANOMALIES

Interruptions during fast charging (DC), heavily reduced charging power at moderate temperatures or unusually long charging times can indicate module problems.

biotech
Second opinion recommended

Uncertain after a workshop diagnosis?

Workshops often propose a complete replacement of the battery – with costs that quickly reach five figures. We offer the professional second opinion: is a targeted module replacement possible? Is there still warranty? Is the diagnosis plausible?

settings_input_component

Self-discharge of individual cells

Targeted identification of modules with above-average self-discharge through high-precision cell-voltage measurement and pressure testing.

campaign

Service campaign 93P7 – is your vehicle affected?

The 93P7 campaign concerns certain VW ID.3 and ID.4 vehicles with known battery problems. As part of our diagnosis we check whether your case is related to it and which claims may possibly exist.

Economical & sustainable

Module replacement instead of a complete battery – when it makes professional sense

The MEB platform from Volkswagen is modular in design. In many cases only one of up to 12 modules is defective. A complete replacement of the entire battery pack is then economically and ecologically unjustifiable.

VW itself communicates that high-voltage batteries of the ID. family do not always have to be completely replaced. Components, modules and control units can be specifically repaired or replaced depending on the case.

Substantial cost savings

Compared with a complete replacement, the saving can be considerable – depending on the specific damage pattern.

Resource-saving repair

Preservation of the original battery housing and the intact modules. Sustainable and ecologically sensible.

Diagnosis as a basis for decision-making

Not every defect is repairable. Our in-depth diagnosis transparently shows you whether and what makes sense.

Engineering Workflow

How the repair works – in 8 steps

From the first enquiry to the documented return. Every step follows a clear protocol.

01

Initialisation

Request & data transfer

You send us vehicle data, error messages and ideally a fault-memory readout.

02

Pre-Check

Transparency & trust

Warranty, costs & second opinion

The battery warranty on VW ID models is usually 8 years or 160,000 km with a guaranteed minimum capacity of 70%. We check whether warranty claims against the manufacturer might exist.

Especially for vehicles outside the manufacturer warranty we offer an economical alternative: instead of a complete replacement, we determine whether a modular repair is technically sensible and more cost-effective.

Our cost structure is transparent. The module replacement costs €3,769 incl. VAT for one module, each additional one material only (€1,599). After the diagnosis you receive a detailed cost estimate – before we begin work.

Warranty

The statutory warranty of 2 years applies.

Honest communication

If a repair does not make sense, we tell you – openly and directly.

One price for one module

€3,769 incl. VAT for one module, each additional one material only (€1,599). Transparent cost estimate before every measure.

Knowledge base

Frequently asked questions

When does a module replacement on my VW ID.3 or ID.4 make sense? expand_more
A module replacement is economically sensible when the remaining capacity of the intact modules is still above 85% and only individual modules stand out through cell drift or capacity loss. Our diagnosis precisely identifies whether a targeted replacement is technically and economically justifiable.
How long does an MEB battery repair take? expand_more
After the vehicle arrives and diagnosis is approved, the physical module replacement takes place including final inspection and documentation; we confirm the date and duration bindingly after inspecting the vehicle. The total duration depends on parts availability and the specific damage pattern.
What does a module replacement on the VW ID.3 or ID.4 cost? expand_more
The module replacement costs €3,769 incl. VAT for one module: battery module €1,599, replacement, resealing to VW specification and commissioning €1,750, diagnosis, BMS adjustment and fault code clearing €420. Each additional module costs only the material (€1,599), the labour stays a flat rate. After the diagnosis we prepare a transparent cost estimate – without hidden fees.
Is the VW manufacturer warranty retained? expand_more
Interventions by third-party providers can affect the manufacturer warranty on the battery system. We inform you individually in advance about possible effects. The statutory warranty applies to our work and the components installed.
Which MEB vehicles are supported? expand_more
Currently we primarily serve VW ID.3 and VW ID.4 in all battery and drive variants. In future we will expand our offering to further MEB-platform vehicles like the ID.5, CUPRA Born, Skoda Enyaq iV and Audi Q4 e-tron.
What is service campaign 93P7? expand_more
The 93P7 campaign concerns certain VW ID.3 and ID.4 vehicles and addresses known battery problems. If your vehicle is affected, we check as part of our diagnosis whether the problems are related to it and which options are available to you.
Can every MEB battery problem be solved by a module replacement? expand_more
No. Not every defect can be remedied by a module replacement. In some cases other components are affected (control unit, cooling, wiring) or the overall condition of the battery economically speaks against a repair. We communicate honestly when a repair does not make sense.
Do you use original spare parts? expand_more
We rely on OEM modules: either new parts or replacement modules with measured remaining capacity. Before installation we measure every module and document the value.
What do I need to have ready for the enquiry? expand_more
Ideally you provide: vehicle model and year of manufacture, battery size (kWh), current mileage, a description of the symptoms and – if available – a fault-memory readout or workshop report. The more information we receive, the more precise our initial assessment.
How does my vehicle get to ESDI EV? expand_more
After the remote preliminary check and a positive initial assessment, we arrange an appointment. You can deliver your vehicle yourself or we organise a transport solution by arrangement. We clarify the details individually.
Do I receive documentation after the repair? expand_more
Yes. You receive a test report with the measured values and the date, plus a list of the measures taken and components installed. These documents are also valuable for any resales or insurance questions.
What happens if a repair is not economical? expand_more
Transparency is important to us. Should our diagnosis reveal that a repair is not economically or technically sensible, we tell you openly and advise you on alternative options. In this case you only pay the diagnosis costs.
